Chisenhale Primary School in BowTower Hamlets Cemetery Park is the borough’s only dedicated woodland park and is one of London’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian cemeteries. Not only does it have an extraordinary history but with twenty-six acres of beautiful woodland, our Cemetery Park is something of a hidden gem.
You can find an incredible variety of trees, plants, birds, bees, insects, butterflies and more in the woodland and it supports a thriving population of rare and endangered species of plant and animal life.
This award winning park is a great place to explore any day of the week with special events throughout the year including their Bow Beasties Wildlife club and Forest School during School holidays.
Spot The Park’s New Sculpture for 2020
After months of work, artist in residence Louise Hildreth has unveiled her beautiful, new addition to the cemetery park. The sculpture, crafted entirely from natural materials, is designed to embrace its setting and gradually fall back into the ground. The colourful arch now takes pride of place just off the footpath within a future wild flower meadow alongside the railway tracks. Check it out on your next visit!
