Thomas Buxton is a two-form entry, Ofsted Outstanding primary school with a nursery, in Whitechapel.

About Thomas Buxton

The school is right in the heart of Whitechapel’s vibrant community and takes full advantage of the facilities and experiences both locally and in central London to enrich their children’s learning.

Thomas Buxton is proud of its varied cultures and celebrates its multicultural nature. The children speak a wide range of different languages, and the different cultures and ethnic backgrounds of the staff and pupils are cherished.

Since the amalgamation of the infant and junior school, Thomas Buxton has been going from strength to strength. In June 2017 it became an Outstanding Primary School receiving much praise in its Ofsted report:

“Through determination, ambition and
commitment, the headteacher has maintained
and built on the school’s strengths since the
last inspection. She has grown a highly
competent and dedicated team of leaders
whose collective high expectations are
reflected in all aspects of the school.”

“My vision is that Thomas Buxton Primary School is a centre for excellence, serving our children, their families and the community as best we can, making sure they achieve and succeed. Our school is a special place full of learning, laughter and friendship where everyone is happy, feels safe and is valued. We enjoy the present, but look to the future – and aspire to equip our children with the skills, curiosity and resilience they need to continue learning throughout their lives.” – Head teacher Mrs. Lorraine Flanagan
