Stratford Circus Arts Centre’s shows for kids with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD)

This Spring, Stratford Circus Arts Centre will showcase the work of some talented theatre companies who put inclusivity at the heart of what they do. There are two exciting shows for children with PMLD, Jamboree for teens, and To The Moon and Back for kids aged 7+.

In order to ensure all children’s needs can be met, bookings are taken at least 8 weeks in advance of each performance. Because spaces are limited they also sell out quickly. We hope you’ll share this with any families you know who would enjoy a show!

Jamboree

This March teenagers with PMLD are in for a treat!

It’s time to make some noise! Let Oily Cart’s Balkan band guide you and your friends and family through a colourful world, where the music can be felt through your whole body.

Intended for children aged 12+, Jamboree will be a highly sensory and stimulating performance. The audience can expect some loud and amplified sound, strong lighting along with a mirrored floor and haze. Created by Oily Cart, Jamboree is a vibrant piece of gig-theatre made for and with teenagers with PMLD. A sensory theatrical riot like no other.

Oily Cart

Oily Cart aims to reimagine theatre for young audiences to make it more inclusive. While their sensory theatre performances for early years are very popular, they also create theatre for those who are labelled as having complex needs including those with PMLD, with an autistic spectrum condition, and those who are deafblind and multi-sensory impaired. They aim to ensure people with profound multiple learning difficulties are included in society and get to enjoy some fantastic theatre too.

When: Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of March 2020

To The Moon and Back

‘Just think of it you and me, eating all of the cheese we can eat on the moon…’

Astronauts – Planet Earth needs you! Alex and dad, Gareth haven’t been getting on too well lately. After the death of his mother, Alex has thrown himself into writing his stories; his newest one is about space. Unfortunately, his Dad thinks all of his stories are childish. Until that is, they embark on an adventure to the moon and back and together save the world! Of course, they wouldn’t be able to do it without your help too! Travel through a meteor shower, make a wish upon a star and visit Mars and the moon!

Launching for the first time, Concrete Youth present their debut production – a multi-sensory, magical story exploring space, adventure and the importance of family, for young audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
