“If you want to be a pirate you don’t need a patch or sword you just need your best pyjamas and a bed to climb aboard.” -Pirates in Pyjamas

A Pirate’s Life for Me Exhibition

An immersive and playful exhibition developed in collaboration with children with objects to chart the re-imagining of pirates over 300 years. Toys, games, books, illustrations and comics all bring to life the fictional fantasy while real pirate coins and treasures remind young visitors of the reality.

Highlights include the first painting of Captain Pugwash, an original illustrated costume design for Captain Hook for the first production of Peter Pan in 1904, Lego’s iconic Black Seas Barracuda ship and real eighteenth century Spanish doubloons.

Your little ones will love letting their imagination take sail as they travel from a moody coastal inn to a tropical treasure island in search of sparkling riches! The centerpiece, a large-scale pirate ship to inspire learning through active play.
