Boozy Brunch at Big Easy

If your kind of parenting style is anything like ours at THMs, then you’ll love the bottomless boozy brunch and kids eat free combo going down at the weekends at Big Easy Canary Wharf!

If you catch the DLR you may have seen the coveted spot of this colossal new BBQ and lobster restaurant, up on the top floor of the new Crossrail mall.

Whenever we have visited, this Texas BBQ joint has been heaving with diners, and when we popped in to trial the Sunday brunch we were pleased to see plenty of families chowing down.

What We Ate at Big Easy Canary Wharf

They had us at the pickles – we started with deep fried pickles, which were served with an awesome blue cheese, garlic mayo dip. Pow!

We then sunk our teeth into The Big Pig BBQ (oink, oink) accompanied by unlimited booze. This was a feast and a half – literally. I was gobsmacked when I was offered more of everything (chopped pork; BBQ chicken; ribs; slaw; pit-smoked beans; chips and cornbread) half way through the meal.

The crowd favourite was Shrimp Po Boy – crispy fried shrimp, served in a on a soft roll with a pink-mayo remoulade served up on the side.

Kids 10 and under eat free on weekends and can choose from mac & cheese or 100% prime beef burger and fries. Our three year old gave me a satisfying nod when I asked what he thought of his meal.

What We Drank at Big Easy Canary Wharf

One Shirley Temple (classic non alcoholic USA cocktail) and they got it in one – unlike the pub we ordered this at recently; two Pina Coladas – so good we went back for more; loads of house wine which went down fine; and a peanut butter milkshake.

Big Easy Canary Wharf – Final Thoughts

The most astonishing thing about Big Easy is the prices. Huge portions but not a huge bill at the end of your meal. On top of this, despite the surroundings of a top-notch restaurant, the staff seemed totally tolerant of the catastrophes left under high chairs at the end of family meals.

Call and pre-book to make sure you get a table if you are heading down at weekends.
