The school holidays are just around the corner and we’ve hunted down the top 10 most eggciting family events for you. Some of these Easter Holiday events will be eggtremely popular so book in advance where possible.

1 Wilton’s Music Hall-Morgan & West’s Utterly Spiffing Spectacular Magic Show for Kids & Childish Grown Ups

The much loved Wilton’s Music Hall presents a show about 2 Time travelling magicians Morgan & West with sleeves full of tricks. Kids will be astounded and adults bamboozled. Close-up magic, jokes, and plenty of audience involvement make this a ridiculously entertaining hour of Victorian-themed trickery. Ages five-plus.

Geffrye

2 Geffrye Museum Easter Activities

Sharing is caring in The Geffrye front gardens this Easter Holiday with 3 days of workshops, crafts and storytelling. Young children will “toy” with the idea of sharing in Nursery Rhyme time and Geffrye explorers. Older kids will enjoy Craft Makers, Digital Workshops and Hands on Tours. Families will come together to ponder why sharing makes the world a better place. The time, love and happiness they share together through special celebrations and daily rituals. This event will take place outdoors so come prepared for April showers.

3 Sutton House Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

This is a popular event so hop to it if you want to enjoy a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at this beautiful National Trust building in Hackney. Follow the trail and uncover the traditions of history and win a chocolate egg when you finish. Fun for the whole family and the perfect way to celebrate the Easter Holiday and bring in the spring. A family tradition for many East London families.

 4 Sadler’s Wells Family Weekend – Aracaladanza Play

Sadler’s Wells family weekend of extraordinary performances and workshops returns this Easter. Friday 19th and Saturday 20th of April. Aracaladanza’s Play explores the themes of freedom and fun through a poetic universe of childhood memories. Puppets, projections, balloons and fantastical costumes bring this captivating performance to life for adults and children alike perfect for children aged 4+.

5 The Great Shoreditch Easter Egg Hunt

Shoreditch Town Hall throws open its doors for family fun with The Great Shoreditch Easter Egg Hunt! Hop along during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and join in the hunt for hidden eggs, nestled in nooks and crannies throughout this beautiful Victorian building. After the hunt families are invited to the magnificent Assembly Hall for special performances by jaw-dropping spoken word artists Tongue Fu. Your children can get crafty and create their own bunny hats and Easter eggs to take home. Make sure to snap a selfie in the Easter photo booth.

6 The Opening of Museum of London’s Beasts of London

Celebrate the opening of Beasts of London with an animal inspired programme of activities over the Easter holidays. With Storytelling, wild drawing workshops, fox ear and tail making workshops, Easter at the Museum of London promises some beastly good fun. Create your own chimera or solve a mystery in a family “escape room” inspired adventure. Expect high-quality production and some very familiar voices as this much-anticipated exhibition opens with great fanfare this Easter Holiday.

7 Discover Story

If ever there was a place and a time to discover a lifelong love for learning, it is the Discover Story Centre during school holidays. With a new author/illustrator to introduce their own book and get stuck in with kids with arts and crafts or music making to bring the words to life. Plus, there is of course, the totally immersive world of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Right next door is the brilliantly bouncy trampoline park, ZAPspace.

8 Celebrate Bengali New Year at Rich Mix, Kobi Nazrul Centr & Poplar Union

Prominent Bengali community activist of the East End Syeda Sultana Sikha celebrates Bengali New Year. This three-day festival will begin at Rich Mix on 12 April, Kobi Nazrul Centre in Brick Lane 13 April and end at Poplar Union on the 14th April. The celebration involves colourful rituals, dazzling dance and traditional Bangla music and poetry. Curated by the poet and the director of Saudha T M Ahmed Kaysher.

9 Fam East Festival

Families are taking over Old Spitalfields Market for Fam East Festival from Monday 15th April – Wednesday 17th. Get creative with a great round up of workshops exploring the art of Keith Haring, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol. Children will get a lot out of the mindfulness workshops learning new coping mechanisms that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.

10 Museum of Childhood Final weeks of A Pirate’s Life for Me

The Pirate’s Life for Me ship will soon set sail from the Museum of Childhood. This Easter school holiday there will be a series of workshops, performances and activities celebrating the final weeks of the exhibition. Join artist Francesca Centioni-Dene to create a wearable pirate costume out of a paper sack. Design patterns and arrange colours to create your own pirate bandana. Train yourself to be a pirate in a half-day camp with the team from Chimp & Bee. Create your own pirate outfit, learn some pirate moves and songs and perform the grand finale on the pirate’s ship in the museum. The exhibition will come to a close with the Easter Holiday so don’t miss out!
