Bethnal Green

A new after school club for kids who love to make people laugh in Bethnal Green

Do your kids like to make people laugh? Comedy is a great life skill no matter your age.  Starting Monday 30th September, your children could start their week in stitches with The Hilarity Academy, a new after school club coming to St. Margaret’s House in Bethnal Green. And you’ll be laughing too, as the workshops are free with thanks to Children In Need.  Children will learn everything from sketch to stand-up to clowning, and even improvisation.

With two sessions every Monday from 30th September, one at 3.30pm for 7 to 12 year olds, and then one at 5pm for 13 to 18 year olds, young people will find a release from the serious side of life with their peer groups; fantastic for their mental well being.

At the end of the course, students will be showing off their skills at the Gallery Café, and in the comedy club The Albany in Camden. These sessions will be led by Alice Devlin and Martin Willis, who have run workshops for organisations including BFI, Jackson’s Lane and Haringey Shed.

St. Margaret’s House is excited to be collaborating with Children in Need on this project, and to celebrate the arts at a time when they are continuing to be cut from the curriculum, and youth services are unfortunately having to close.
