May Half term is just around the corner but no need to panic Tower Hamlet Mums have your back. We’ve compiled the crème de la crème of family friendly events in and around Tower Hamlets between 26th of May to the 3rd of June 2018. Museum of London Docklands

This May Half Term visit the Museum of London Docklands and journey through London’s Roman history. Make a Roman perfume, Sculpt a Face Pot or Create an Amazing adornment. Your family will enjoy theatrical story telling and creative workshops bringing these ancient stories to vibrant realisation.

Museum of Childhood

The Museum of Childhood has 2 workshops this May Half term to encourage your children’s creativity and invention. Children aged 8+ will love the Crazy Inventor Workshop Age, sharing their ideas with fellow crazy inventors  and making their ideas into a model. Younger children will love the Robot Helper Workshop where they can make and design their very own special robot friend.

Discover Childrens Story Centre

presents Transbook Exhibition

“The rule and the game: a sensory reading lab”

To read is to look. You move between word and image and navigate page to page. But a reader can also touch, listen, feel, ‘put on’ 3D glasses and scroll.  This May Half Term different children’s authors from Europe will take you and your family on a sensory adventure through different materials, textures, cut paper, inks and transparencies with a fantastic exhibition that invites you to experience books in new and unexpected ways. Ragged School Museum Victorian Style

Get into your Victorian Style at Ragged School Museum this May half term. Take a Victorian Style quiz to figure out what sort of Victorian Style you were best suited to (pardon the pun). Join in making bonnets, brooches, deerstalker hats, tartan fans, moustaches, and more! Activities are aimed at 6 to 12 year olds, and the under 5s’ Raggamuffin Play Room will be open for younger children. The rest of the Museum, including the Canel Towpath Cafe and the exhibition ‘Mended Lives’, will be also be open and it’s all for free!

Dalston Children’s Festival

Local businesses have got together to produce a full week of activities at various locations for children of all ages all around Dalston. Participants include Dalston Eastern Curve garden, Tots Tunes, The Hackney Pirates, Donna Fugassa, Hackney Play Bus and more. A truly wonderful community effort! Find out more.

Anna Fiorentini Step Into the Spotlight

Thursday 31st May and Friday 1st June, the award winning Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School will  give 35 lucky 9 – 12 year olds the opportunity to put together their very own anti-bullying  performance at The Space Arts Centre. This event is all about having fun and building confidence using dance, singing, and drama, whilst teaching children how to deal with challenging situations.

Participants will perform in a showcase in front of family and friends at the end of the 2 days.

Anna Fiorentini, who has 23 years’ experience working with young people, has seen the transformative effects performing arts classes have on developing confidence and self-esteem and discouraging and learning to deal with bullies. Grab one of these free spaces and give your kids the opportunity to learn new ways to  and have lots of fun at the same time!

Victoria Park

And last but not in the slightest bit least, there is so much going on in Vicky Park this May half term we’ve had to give the park their own feature! All Points East In The Neighbourhood, Taster Days of Fishing and Chess and the reopening of Splash Park Playground…Too much fun to squeeze in this round up! Find out more
